Global Manufacturing firm is seeking a Radio Frequency Design Engineer to join their growing team. This opportunity plays an intricate role in shaping the development of their new product lines. They are seeking a highly motivated Engineer with experience in RF (Radio Frequency) design and spectrum analysis to join their team in developing cutting-edge access control products.

What you will be doing 

 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Collaborate with a diverse and dynamic team to design and develop innovative access control products.
    • Participate in Pre-Product Innovation (PPI), New Product Innovation (NPI), and Continuous Product Innovation (CPI) development cycles.
  • Product Development Lifecycle
    • Contribute to concept development, planning, design, and execution stages of major new products or product enhancements.
    • Translate Product Requirements into clear and actionable hardware specifications.
    • Conduct Risk Assessments such as Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential design issues.
  • Hardware Design & Verification
    • Design schematics and Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) using ECAD tools (e.g., Altium).
    • Conduct peer reviews of product designs, ensuring compliance with best practices and standards.
    • Collaborate with Test and Manufacturing teams to ensure testability and manufacturability.
    • Prototype and test concept designs and early engineering builds.
    • Perform Design Verification Testing (DVT), analyze results, and generate reports.
    • Conduct Product Validation and usability testing to confirm performance under real-world conditions.
    • Perform basic repairs, modifications, and rework of PCBs when necessary.
  • RF and Spectrum Analysis
    • Utilize Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Network Analyzers, and other RF measurement tools to characterize and troubleshoot wireless communication subsystems.
    • Ensure designs meet regulatory standards (FCC, CE, etc.) and maintain compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
    • Optimize antenna design, placement, and performance for reliable low-power wireless solutions.
  • Production Support & Continuous Improvement
    • Oversee Pilot Production and review first articles for design integrity.
    • Investigate field return issues, perform root-cause analyses, and implement design changes or component replacements for End-of-Life (EOL) parts.
    • Coordinate project tasks using Scaled Agile (SAFe) principles, ensuring efficient workflows and continuous process improvements.
  • Project Management
    • Manage day-to-day tasks, timelines, and deliverables to ensure project milestones are met.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams—including software/firmware, program management, and external vendors—to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

 

Experience/Skills

 
  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering or equivalent; advanced degree or additional certifications are a plus.
    • Proven professional experience in hardware design, demonstrable product ownership and ideally with a focus on RF and wireless technologies.
  • Technical Skills
    • Strong background in analog, digital, and embedded hardware design.
    • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, oscilloscopes, function generators, DVMs, and protocol/logic analyzers.
    • Proficiency with Electronic Computer Aided Design (ECAD) tools (e.g., Altium) for schematic capture and PCB layout.
    • Familiarity with low-power (battery) designs and wireless communication technologies (e.g., BLE, Wi-Fi, Zigbee) is a significant plus.
  • Soft Skills & Competencies
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to present technical concepts clearly.
    • Effective team player capable of interfacing with individuals across multiple disciplines—hardware, firmware/software, mechanical, program management, production, and vendors.
    • Self-driven and highly motivated; able to set personal goals and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Detail-oriented, organized, and conscientious, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
