Quality Manager

Job Description
The Plant Quality Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of Quality Assurance and Food Safety across the facility. This role ensures that all products meet safety, regulatory, and customer standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the quality team.
Leadership & Management
- Oversee all quality and food safety operations across the facility.
- Manage departmental budgets, including cost control and procurement approvals.
- Direct and develop the quality team through effective training, coaching, and performance management.
- Serve as the primary site contact for all regulatory and quality-related audits or inspections.
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Production, R&D, Technical Services, and Marketing to align on quality objectives.
Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain and improve Quality Management Systems (QMS) in alignment with industry and regulatory standards.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions related to consumer complaints or process deviations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, process capability, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee the integration of quality systems with broader plant performance initiatives.
- Ensure compliance and maintenance of HACCP, FSMA, and Food Defense programs.
Technical Oversight
- Serve as the site’s SQF Practitioner, responsible for verification and validation of all SQF requirements.
- Supervise quality technicians and laboratory operations to ensure accurate testing and reporting.
- Manage external quality-related services, including pest control, laboratory testing, and calibration.
- Oversee the hold/release process for raw materials and finished goods.
- Support new product development and process validation to ensure alignment with food safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in quality management within a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate teams.
- Proven knowledge of GMP, HACCP, FSMA, SQF, and related regulatory frameworks.
- Experience implementing and maintaining quality and food safety systems (ISO, SQF, or equivalent).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
