Job Description
Position Description:
Customer facing role that is responsible for supporting the sales team in driving new product development and revenue growth. This role will work directly with the customer to provide new and innovative solutions on product design and material selection and then transfer that requirement to the internal new product introduction process. The role will act as the project manager to ensure that the product development and prototype samples are completed on time and according to the customers’ expectations. Â
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer relationship management – particularly with Engineering counterparts
- Product/profile design and conversion to engineering drawings
- Project management for new product development/introduction process and new program launches
- Completing projects on time and according to the required specifications to ensure a smooth transition to product realization – from prototype to production
- Ensuring that designs and drawings will be supported by our internal capabilities and manufacturing processes
- Supporting the development engineering, cost estimating, and process engineering teams as needed
- Supporting the business in strengthening our manufacturing and engineering capabilities as a competitive advantage and business differentiator
- Active participation in ongoing continuous improvement projects, business planning, and capital project identification and implementation
- Completing all other tasks as assigned
Competencies/Skills:
- Proficient in AutoCAD/SolidWorks
- Excellent communication skills for internal and external customer interaction
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently
- Able to lead teams and manage projects
Education and Experience:
- BS in Engineering – Mechanical or Industrial preferred
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
- 3+ years of experience in product design and development
- 3+ years of experience in rubber/plastic profile extrusion
- 3+ years of experience in the building façade or architectural aluminum industry
- Broad range of polymer material knowledge – rubber, plastics, thermoplastics
