Job Description
We are seeking experienced Field Service Technicians to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the on-site assembly, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of automated manufacturing equipment. The role requires significant travel (50-75%), a customer-focused approach, and a combination of mechanical and electrical expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Commissioning: Perform on-site installation, assembly, and commissioning of new machines at customer locations.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair existing machinery at customer sites, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Startup Assistance: Assist with startup activities for new machinery installations, including uncrating, alignment, and assembly of equipment.
- Training: Provide operator and maintenance training for customer personnel to ensure efficient machine operation and upkeep.
- Parts Recommendations: Guide customers on spare parts recommendations and proper machine maintenance practices.
- Design Improvement Recommendations: Collaborate with Stürtz engineering to recommend design improvements based on field experiences.
- Service Documentation: Accurately complete service reports that summarize fieldwork and any issues encountered during visits.
- Remote Support: Provide customer support through phone consultations and PC remote diagnostics when applicable.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2-5 years of experience in building, installing, and repairing industrial machinery, with a focus on automation systems.
- Mechanical & Electrical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude and electrical skills, including knowledge of PLCs, electronics, and wiring schematics.
- Computer Skills: Basic computer skills to support diagnostics and reporting.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-oriented approach.
- Travel Requirements: Ability to travel 50-75% of the time to customer sites within North America.
- Teamwork & Independence: Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Education: 2-year technical degree or technical/skill trades training is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with industrial machinery assembly and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with remote diagnostics and phone-based support.
