Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Engineer to lead the design and development of tools, fixtures, and processes to support both existing products and new product development initiatives in a metal forming and/or CNC machining environment. This individual will be responsible for driving the engineering design process from concept through to installation, while ensuring the implementation of manufacturing solutions that meet quality, cost, and time targets.
Essential Functions:
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field is required.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in 3D modeling software (SolidWorks preferred).
Strong knowledge of mechanical drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Hands-on experience in tooling and fixturing methods for CNC machining, forging, and automated systems.
Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment diagrams.
Project Management:
Experience in the procurement of manufacturing systems and equipment.
Ability to write and manage Capital Expenditure Requests (CER) for new equipment or technology.
Additional Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including operations, quality, and product development.
Experience in production and familiarity with manufacturing workflows is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:

Essential Functions:

Tooling & Fixture Design: Lead the design and development of tools, fixtures, and manufacturing processes to support production and new product development. This includes CNC machining, forging, and automated cell layouts/material flow.

Engineering Design Process: Oversee the engineering design process including conceptualization, design, drawing creation, build, documentation, installation, and long-term technical support.

Project Management: Lead the implementation of capital or expense projects related to manufacturing technologies. Responsibilities include researching new and established manufacturing technologies, planning the capital and time needed, and writing CER (Capital Expenditure Request) proposals for review and approval.

Technology Implementation: Manage the procurement, installation, and commissioning of new equipment in the manufacturing plant, ensuring that projects meet cost and time targets.

Process and Product Design Reviews: Actively participate in product and process design reviews to help improve product quality, reduce production costs, and increase manufacturing efficiency.

Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing processes, including optimizing material flow and layout in automated cells.

Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with operations, quality, and product development teams to integrate new processes and technologies effectively.

Experience:

5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal forming, forging, or CNC machining.

Experience in tooling, fixture design, and process development is required.

Hands-on experience with equipment rebuilds and upgrades is highly desirable.
Education:
